Other than cost, why wouldn't you pour a concrete flooring over the plastic mil? You could easily seal the crawlspace, making it part of a sealed home & have less issues in the future.
Could rockwool r15 be used instead in interior walls , or is the non r value 1 any better??
"this is a money maker." You bet. How to double the price of the roof, in 20 mins.
Global warming lollolol
So tell us what type of assemblies work well!
Where do we buy?
Three questions: 1.a. Can or should we be able to put insulation? 1.b. If yes, should it go above or below the Rockwool? 2. Does the Resilient Channel take the place of strapping?
Taping flashing to the WRB isnt' acceptable in our code, WRB needs to lap over the flashing to provide positive drainage.
Is this good for insulating for a split level 3 story townhouse with varying temps in different floors on different seasons like hot in 3rd floor and cold basement or spray foam is?
If we could only buy Comfortboard 80. It doesn't seem to be available anywhere.
Home Depot has it here in Saskatchewan. Price has gone up 8% since July 1st for all Rockwool products, unfortunately.
Swap out those tiles for polyaspartic
Hey everything’s done. Here is how you put in insulation
You mean I don't need to put a vapour barrier over rockwool before drywalling?
I work for Rockwool and I find it odd that they don't require nor do they provide us with masks of any kind in the their manufacturing facility.
If I'm planning on using Hardiboard 4x8 foot sheets, do I still use this same method, with the 1x4" boards, then nail the Hardiboard into the 1x4's?
THIS PRODUCT IS NOT AS ADVERTISED. It is flimsy, soft and NOT ridged as in this video. It does NOT stay supported in the ceiling joists. Yes all joist bays are 16” on center. I had to resort to using support wires. This product advertisement and video is NOT recommended

Tout the vapor permeability of the material but then go on to install a vapor barrier?
super
Strap and SONOpan instead of that channel is hardcore mode (e.g. theater, music space, etc).
Where is the installation?
Why don’t you want to put house wrap over the rockwool?
house wrap would be difficult to install over rockwool since you can't staple into the rockwool or use any of the self-adhered house wraps to stick it to the rockwool. Additionally, sandwiching the house wrap between the plywood and the rockwool protects the housewrap from the elements more which is important since that's providing your air and water barrier. The rockwool doesn't mind getting wet so it's fine that it's not protected by the house wrap.
Can it be left open on ceiling like that? Or something must be put on it to protect stuff/particles falling down?
Any recommendations on what to enclose this with? My current sunroom is enclosed with what looks to be 1/4 plywood. It does not look the best after years of service. Should I replace with same thing? I should say enclose the insulation on the bottom
I was planning to insulate my attic to insulate my attic with rockwool so I went to Home Depot to get some but saw that it’s only R30. Right next to it is some Kraft that’s R49. I thought rockwool was the best, now I don’t know what to get. Any advice out there?
So I have an 1820 house in VT. There is no exterior wrap. Want to use this in the rafters and in the walls. No vapor barrier needed?
what does the lifetime of both the rockwool and the panel look like if its completely exposed to elements? how about ina crawlspace?
No one talks about this, but if you have a siding which is a poor heat conductor shading your true wall, not in contact with the exterior wall, especially if it is vented allowing for air flow behind it [heat dissipation], and out the top, you’ve given your house a parasol. Someone tell Matt Risinger we have a new catch word, please. This parasol will block incoming radiant energy. This isn’t an equilibrium R value, it’s reducing the intensity of the incoming heat source, the sun, that’s beaming down on your building. I’d like to see a heat transfer engineer look at some of these things and make a few back of the envelope calculations.
Can’t buy it anywhere. Some kind of supply chain trouble.
I was lucky to find 40 available in Saskatoon recently at Home Depot but according to a local Home Hardware, there definitely is a supply problem as it would be around 6 months wait time for new orders to be fulfilled. Also, as of July 1st 2024 I read there will be an 8% price increase to most of Rockwool products.
Shouldn't the bug screen be folded up before the stripping?
Seems like that would leave a path for bugs between the strapping. I am no expert though haha. Terry
You’re wanting to block access to the gap made by the rainscreen, which is the same gap/plane as the battens or furring strips. So no, you want the bug screen to be folded under/over the furring strips, not behind.
Can you add this to a concrete wall? Can you stucco over it?
Et la sonopan ?!
why no rain screen over the outside of the rockwool before you put on the siding ?
The firring strips act as the rainscreen.
Maybe to allow sir flow hence any moisture that does get in can escape? Terry
Rockwhool is hydrophobic and does not compress when it gets wet, so the water drains away and dries out
Suppose you are using a DROP CEILINg
Key insights 🔧 The night wall MFI system is designed to reduce thermal bridging through exterior insulation, providing a more energy-efficient solution for cladding attachment. 🏗 There must be no voids or gaps in the insulation to maintain thermal barrier continuity. 🔩 The attachments are slotted, making the installation of ROCKWOOL CAVITYROCK® with Knight Wall a user-friendly process. 🏗 You are now ready to install your mechanical insulation attachments and proceed with the cladding. TLDR: The Knight Wall MFI system is a user-friendly and energy-efficient solution for cladding attachment, designed to reduce thermal bridging and maintain thermal barrier continuity. 1. 00:00 🔧 Install ROCKWOOL CAVITYROCK® with Knight Wall MFI system by measuring, attaching support brackets, installing metal Gertz, and temporary insulation retention fasteners. 2. 01:36 🔨 Install ROCKWOOL CAVITYROCK® by fitting it snugly behind the unfastened leg of the Gert and turning it to create a friction fit, ensuring no voids or gaps for thermal barrier continuity. 3. 02:01 🛠 Install ROCKWOOL CAVITYROCK® with Knight Wall using 24-inch spacing for horizontal rails. 4. 02:22 🔧 Install ROCKWOOL CAVITYROCK® with Knight Wall by lining up the S rails and installing mechanical insulation attachments before proceeding with the cladding.
Ma question sur cette technique c’est la vermine? Est-ce qu’elle ont tendance à aller se réfugier dans la laine l’hiver. Doit-on mettre un plywood ou quelque choses?
Whats the name of the red tape, and which is better? Duck tape or that red tape?
Why is it thinner than a 2x4, and have less material, but yet more expensive than standard rockwool insulation?
“High density”. He said it a couple times.
Distracting music
You need to attach the resilient channel to sound isolation clips
ua-cam.com/video/iYzTP1guvjQ/v-deo.htmlsi=xGTkHpZcSk-z5j-x
Hypothetical here, say your house was sheated with something 3/4" thick, like horizontal 1x6 instead of plywood. Could you screw the vertical strapping off to it rather than going into the studs? If you were only going to do something lite like vinyl siding. Seems like this would eliminate any thermal bridging into your wall
This does not help with sound proofing my ceiling at all. I can still hear Everything going on upstairs
When they put this in my ceiling bits and prices fell off and made my floor very dirty
amazing all these people don't mention the need ofa vapour barrier...yes or no? crazy because it's a very important question
🤣 but you need to stop the fire at 5 minutes because if you continue you don't have chocolate neither carton box inside 🤣For superinsulation and fire protection always ISOLEIKA is better!
